At only four years old, you are a brilliant, nurturing, creative, beautiful human being. You are the most wonderful little person in the universe, of that I am certain. I love you more than anything, and every day I love you more and more. There is no love like a mother’s love for her children. There is also nothing like a mother’s advice… and I will always advise you to do things I can’t do, but wish I could.
- Know and love who you are at all times. If you lose this place, find it again before you do anything else.
- Love unconditionally, even if it’s terrifying and dangerous. It’s usually worth it, and if it’s not you’ll at least learn something of value.
- Be bold. Speak up and voice what you’re thinking and feeling. It’s important.
- Make healthy choices. We tend to take our health for granted until it starts to dissipate. Make sure yours doesn’t for a long time.
- Follow your dreams, no matter what it takes.
- Take risks and be brave. You only live once, and the here and now is what matters the most.
- Document the beautiful, important moments in your life. Whether it be in photographs, art, writing, video, or something else entirely: don’t let yourself forget. If not for any other reason, than for me. I want you to be able to look back and remember some day.
- Don’t neglect the people you love. They won’t be here forever. Give them hugs and kisses and tell them you love them at every opportunity. (Yes, this includes your mother!)
- Always remember you are beautiful. Tell yourself every day if you have to.
- Avoid people and things that are harmful to your psyche. Take drastic measures to do this.
- Be kind and compassionate, even if you think people don’t deserve it sometimes.
- Don’t stress the small things. (Much easier said than done, I know.)
- Look for the beauty in every situation, even if it seems like the most difficult thing in the world.
- Remember that no matter what, I love you and your sister the most. Truly and unconditionally, for always.
- Enjoy every moment of your life and every piece of your world, because that’s all there is.
